Neurosurgery Overview

The human body consists of a complex nervous system that coordinates the voluntary and involuntary actions and transmits signals among different parts of the body. As it is a complex structure, minute issues may have a negative effect on it. The medical specialty which deals with the prevention, diagnosis and treatments of nervous diseases is known as Neurology. It includes brain, spinal cord, extra-cranial cerebrovascular system and the peripheral nerves.

The brain functions as the command centre of the body, which controls all its movements. It has the power to control our sensations and ability to speak. Information from the face, ears, arms, legs and the rest of the body are brought to the brain by the peripheral nerves. The process will be done vice versa also. The peripheral nerves take the orders from the brain to the other parts of the body. This activity makes speak and move possible. The nerves take information to and from the brain as electric wires. When an injury or damage causes to any of the nerve system or cause any blockage to the functionality, it may develop into a neurological issue. It may affect the overall functionality of the body. Due to this, neurosurgery has been marked as one of the prominent fields of medicine.
