CAUSES OF SPINE PROBLEMS

Accidental falls, infections and inflammation, congenital problems, wear and tear due to aging and vitamin deficiencies are some of the causes. Obesity, sedentary life style, low calcium intake, smoking and bad posture can double the chances of spine disorders.

Spine disorders lead to neck and back pain, pain and numbness in the limbs, weakness in limb muscles, bladder and bowel dysfunction. If not tackled in time, it can end in disaster. X -rays, electromyography, CT scan and MRI will confirm the diagnosis, and treatment can be initiated.

Prolapsed intervertebral disc prolapse is the commonest spine disease. This is mainly due to wear and tear of the disc due to degeneration. Once diagnosed it can be tackled by a most minimalistic surgical procedure called percutaneous endoscopic discectomy
